Every year, the Jewish community in São Paulo, Brasil, has a campaign to endow a “Scholarship Fund for the Jewish Schools”.
To increase the awareness, to mobilize the community the people beyond just donating and reinforce the link between sport and education, the Swimming Master’s Team from the Jewish club Hebraica de São Paulo promoted from 8AM Oct 27th until 8AM Oct 28th, a “24 hours Swimming for Jewish Education”.
It was an event open to all.
The attendance went beyond the expectations, over 300 people participated from the swimmers’ teams (children, juniors and Masters), grandmothers from hydro gymnastics to families with babies.
Also came several world champions: Ana Marcela Cunha (world champion aquatic marathon), Nicholas Santos (world record 50m Fly), Etiane Medeiros (world record 50m back), Poliana Okimoto (Olympics medalist RIO16 aquatic marathon) and Igor de Souza (English Channel crossing record).
Even with bad weather and during the night and early hours there were always people swimming.
Due to the success, the event will be repeated in the next years.
